Blackboard rug, Eileen Gray

About the designer
In 1978, Andrée Putman founded Ecart International, transforming a warehouse into a showroom to revive forgotten early 20th-century designs. She carefully selected and reissued works by Eileen Gray, Jean-Michel Frank, and Mariano Fortuny, focusing on timeless elegance rather than fleeting trends. Ecart’s success led to collaborations with contemporary designers like Sacha Ketoff and Martin Szekely, expanding its influence. The company also grew into an interior design agency, attracting major fashion clients. The name "Ecart" - an anagram of "Trace" - reflects its mission to honor design history while shaping the present. Today, the brand continues its legacy of craftsmanship and sophistication.
